Do you think you’d be happy?
If you had just what you wanted?
If you had just what you needed to be free?
Or wouldn’t you be slightly bored,
In knowing that the points you’d scored
Had brought you all your dreams and even more?
I think you never could be happy
‘Cause you’d know your life had ended
So keep on dreamin’ but don’t dreams
Become your world
I’ve never had the time I’d like
To think about the way I’d like
My world, but even so I know I’m happy
I’ve also learned to take things as they come
And never rush to grab
The things people throw at me
I know that I could be your teacher
But it’s you who must seek learning
Lets keep on dreaming, but don’t let dreams
Become your world
I guess that I’ll be leaving
It’s been nice visiting with you
Just remember if you ever need a friend
And if you ever need me
I suppose you’ve guessed I love you
And that’s all that really matter in the end
And so I guess that I’ll be going
Cause we’re both on different journeys
Lets keep on dreaming, but don’t let dreams
Become our world
Written for Judith Szolics a very sophisticated senior at Sleepy Hollow High School in 1970. She was my friend, and she would let me go shopping with her and sit while she modeled clothes being kind enough to ask my opinion. She dated my best friend, and was not as happy as he or I wished she could be. I remember her very fondly as the inspiration for this, one of my first songs. LWR
